When planning your headshot shoot it is often helpful to find reference images that have a look or style you like. Reference shots help your photographer to plan the lighting and styling for the shot and be better prepared for your shoot.

Things to consider regarding your headshot’s styling include the backdrop (environmental or studio, light or dark, neutral or a colour), lighting (for example, even and flat lighting for a clean corporate look, or strong shadows for a moody and striking look), wardrobe, and more technically the depth of field (how quickly the focus falls off from the eyes).
